Kangaroo Quinceañera/o/x with TWO special guests!

Humphrey celebrated his fifteenth birthday earlier this summer. What better way to mark the occasion than a Quinceañera/o/x?! (That's normal for a dog, right?)

It all came about when an opportunity arose to invite Boomer, a very tame local Kangaroo who lives with several dogs, to Humphrey's garden. He loves to make new friends, especially across species. And what an olfactory novelty for a little dog to sniff and interact with an exotic marsupial!

The invitation went out, and guests eagerly RSVPed. Humphrey's pack considered hiring a mariachi band but didn't (in part because there doesn't seem to be one locally!). They got a cake and lots of delicious snacks, and the garden was set for a socially-distanced, pandemic fete!

Boomer the Kangaroo arrived as planned - but much to everyone's surprise, he brought a surprise guest! A two week old lion cub who was being fostered locally. The lion had no teeth yet, and guests got to bottle feed him. Humphrey and Lion Cub got along famously! The lion repeatedly crawled under Humphrey's belly, they sniffed each other's necks and faces while playing on the lawn.

It was a memorable day for a special guy - and he is now one of the few dogs who can proudly say he went fact to face with a lion!

Scroll to see photos from the event (and perhaps later we'll upload a little video).

Getting ready for the guests to arrive in style.

Making a kangaroo friend!

Lots of guests brought best wishes (and cucumbers!) for  Humphrey

A very special guest!

The lion cub was swaddled, and some of the guests bottle fed him!

A May-December, cross-species friendship.
